After that, Chad and I played on his ps3 for 2 hours! We battled one-on-one in Tekken. None of us wanted to be beaten so it lasted quite a long time before we stopped playing. After we were done playing, we watched a horror movie.
While we were both sitting on his bed while watching the movie, there were even snacks in front of us that were brought by his maid earlier. And because we enjoyed watching the movie too much, I didn't notice that it was already late in the afternoon! I'm going to be late at my part time in the restaurant. I said goodbye to Chad but he insisted on giving me a ride to the restaurant so I accepted his offer.
After arriving in the restaurant, Auntie scolded me because I was already late. I changed to my uniform and once I was ready, Autnie called for me.
"EYA!"
"Yes, Auntie?"
I went straight to the staff room. Auntie, who was on the telephone, held it towards me after I arrived.
"Someone's calling for you. Don't give the number for the restaurant! And don't spend too much time on the phone! You came in late earlier so finish quickly!"
Huh? Who'd even want to call me? Auntie left after I grabbed the telephone from her.
"Hello, who's---"
The person on the other line suddenly shouted before I could even finish speaking.
"HEY! WHERE WERE YOU EARLIER?! I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU AND WAS SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU DO SOMETHING BUT YOU WEREN'T THERE! WHAT KIND OF MAID ARE YOU? AND WHATS YOUR PHONE NUMBER? CAN'T CONTACT YOU WHEN NEEDED! YOU USELESS---"
"Krrrssherqwiqwhriuashdgashg."
I didn't let him finish speaking and pretended that the line was breaking using my voice.
"There's a bomb, there's a bomb! Weeewoooweewooo! BOOM!"
After I said boom, I quickly hung up the phone. Not even a minute has passed and the telephone has started ringing again. I picked it up but after I heard that Cross was still shouting, I quickly spoke.
"To infinity and beyond!" and hung up. "Auntie if someone's looking for me tell them that I'm already dead!"
I know that my behaviour to Cross isn't right because what he's saying is true. Instead of staying at the school, I was wandering around and was nowhere to be found when he needed me to do something. My role as his personal maid is to assist him when he need something in school but I didn't think about my job and stayed all afternoon at Chad's house. I hope he doesn't report me to his dad, I'll be in trouble and might lose my job. I'm sure he's even more annoyed now that I've hung up the phone twice on him, what could I have done? I was panicking.
After my part time, I went straight to the Sandford's residence. I'm still feeling nervous, did Cross complain about me to his dad? Am I removed from the job? When I arrived at their house, I was able take a deep breath when he said he'll forget about my behaviour on the phone IF I'll go to Lory's birthday even if it's a Saturday, meaning I'm not obligated to follow him because my job is only on weekdays. But because we have a deal that he wouldn't complain about me to his dad about my attitude on the phone and being absent earlier when he needed me, I'm forced to work for him on Saturday.
He wants me to come with him because he wants someone to get food, drinks, wipe his sweat and everything else. Is he handicapped?! I couldn't do anything but accept it. In the end, I need to go there anyway because I was invited by Lory and I'm included in Chad's plan. So whether I like it or not, I still need to go to the party.
Saturday, Infinity Palace
The day's here, I'm here at the birthday party. Good thing that Cross gave me something to wear and a mask for this party, he said my face is embarrassing so I should wear a mask. He's really annoying, every time he speaks, it includes insults. Psh!
"Hey, Cross, bro! You've finally arrived!"
A guy suddenly put his arm on Cross's shoulder the moment we went inside the palace, he lifted his mask and looked at me.
"Is she your date?"
Cross and I shouted at him at the same time. "NO! IN HIS/HER DREAM!"
The guy laughed. "It's not obvious that you hate each other a lot, huh?"
"Psh, she's my personal maid." Cross scornfully said.
The guy moved close to me.
"Oh, it's you. I couldn't recognize you because you're wearing a mask, it's only Cross that I could notice because I can recognize his back from miles away even if it's just his back. We're friends ever since we're in our diapers! Hahaha! I'm Ian del Rosario by the way, your name's Eya, right? Cross had mentioned about you a lot of times."
He then went close to my ears and whispered.
"He's not saying good things about you though but don't worry, I know Cross, he's just mad at the world so just tolerate him. Hahaha!"
"What are you whispering, Ian!"
"Hahaha! It's nothing! Let's go grab something to eat, I'm starving!"
He then pulled Cross away then looked at me.
"Go enjoy yourself, don't think about this one, I'll take care of him."
"W-What? Hey, Ian!"
"C'mon Cross, don't be too hard on that girl! Let's go to Memo! Woo!"
Okay, I was left alone at the entrance on the palace and I don't know what to do. I was supposed to take care of Cross but Ian took him away. I'm not going to complain (actually it's a relief that I wouldn't need to take care of someone like Cross, his brain is handicapped.) but now I'm not sure what to do. I don't even know anyone here, all of them are wearing a mask. How am I supposed to find Lory and Chad? I'm starting to feel out of place here, everyone looks elegant and same with the venue, this party's really for rich people.
I roamed around by myself but I couldn't find Lory and Chad. I couldn't even see their shadow. What's even more annoying was everyone's wearing a mask, which makes it harder to find those two. I was holding the necklace with a transmitter that I was supposed to give to Lory before midnight. I looked at my wristwatch, there's still time before midnight. I'll just look for her later, we'll probably bump against each other. For the mean time, I'll start eating because I'm getting hungry.
I walked straight to the buffet and grabbed something to eat, someone suddenly started speaking to me while I was there.
"Hey there."
He was holding a plate and lifted his mask and I quickly recognized him, it's Cross's Friend, Ian.
"Ah, it's you."
I smiled at him. I noticed that this person's very cheerful compared to Cross that's always irritated. He's the exact opposite of Cross.
"So, how are you? Enjoying the night?"
"Nye, of course not. I'm feeling bored, I don't know anyone here. I want to go home."
"Well, if that's the case, you can go home if you want. I know you were just forced by Cross that's why you're here, that guy's a spoiled brat, he doesn't care about anyone else but don't worry about him. Just go home if you want to go home, I'll take care of Cross."
He even winked at me, how cute. Why have I been meeting so many cute beings these past few days?
In any case, that shouldn't be unfamiliar to me because I'm studying at Willford Academy, there's a lot of cute people there, but I only noticed now because it hasn't been that long since they've started talking to me.
"Ah, thank you but I can't go home yet, I still need to meet someone..."
"Who?"
"Lory, the birthday celebrant. She's my friend and I wanted to give her my present before I go home."
"Ah, is that so. Ah, but you might not get to go home until later because I've heard that the birthday celebrant will only show up once it hits midnight, because her birthday is actually gonna be on midnight, in other words, tomorrow. That's why masquerade is the theme of the party so no one can tell who the birthday celebrant is, only a few people knows what she looks like and what she's wearing."
"Ayy, there's a gimmick like that?"
He laughed, "Yeah, so I think it'll be a while before you can go home. Alright, I'll go back to my table now."
I nodded and said my goodbyes to him. I felt depressed from what I learned, Lory will only show up later at midnight? Not good! I need to give her the necklace before then! After I was done eating, I started searching for Lory.
Why is it that every girl looks so similar when wearing a mask, they all have the same body shape and all of their heights aren't that far from each other. They all have their hairs in a bun as well and they're all fair skinned. What the heck!
"Excuse me, are you Lory?"
"Ah, what is it?!"
"Oops, sorry."
"Excuse me, are you Lory?"
"Nope."
"Ah, okay. Sorry."
I feel like I've asked all of the girls already. I'm feeling tired from going around, sometimes I feel like I've been asking the same person that's why some of them are getting annoyed at me. But that's okay, it's not like they'll recognize me from my mask. I've been searching around for hours but I still couldn't find her, where is she? I looked at my watch, oh no, there's only 10 minutes left before 12!
"I found Lory."
"Wow, really? You're so good. How did you know it was her?"
"I heard her voice earlier, she was talking to someone and I found out that it was her."
"Really? What does her dress look like?"
While I was leaning against one of the tables, two girls walked in front of me while talking to each other. I heard that they're talking about Lory and one of them found out where Lory is already. I listened to their conversation and good thing that the one of them described what Lory was wearing. I quickly looked for Lory and once I found someone that was wearing the same dress as the girl described earlier, I ran towards her. I don't have any time left, there's only a minute left before it turned midnight. I was getting closer to her, I'm nearly there... I'm nearly there...
"Lory! Oh son of a cow frog!"
I was running towards her with the necklace in my hand, I shouted her name and she looked at me but before I got to her, all the lights turned off and because I got surprised as well as not being able to see anything in the dark, I stepped on my dress (because it's too long, damn you!) and tripped. When I tripped, I accidentally dropped the necklace and I don't know where it is on the floor. I heard everyone screaming and being flustered when all the lights turned off, and I'm also very flustered because I don't know where I should look for the necklace.
While I was walking in the dark, someone bumped into my shoulder like they were running in front of me, there were two people that bumped my shoulder. That only means one thing, I'm sure it's Chad. He already sprung into action and ran away while pulling someone towards the garden of the palace. But wait, didn't I drop the necklace? How did he find Lory? Eh?
"Oh no. Why did the lights turn off? This is not a part of my plan."
I was even more flustered when I suddenly heard Lory's voice next to me, I'm sure that's her voice. I quickly grabbed the hand of the person next to me.
"Aaaah! Who are you!"
"Lory? Is that you? It's Eya."
I asked in the darkness while holding her hand.
"Eya?"
Once I was sure that it was Lory I'm holding, I hurriedly pulled her out of the hall of the palace.
"Lory, follow me! Quickly!"
I need to immediately bring Lory at the garden because Chad brought the wrong person! Whoever it was, he was mistaken! Because I'm with Lory! I think when the necklace got dropped, someone stepped on it or maybe whoever was near it was detected by Chad on the transmitter so he thought it was Lory. I'm gonna be dead, what problem did I just cause. Chad might get angry at me.
"Wait, Eya! Where are we going?"
"Faster!"
I was holding her hand and holding my dress with the other while running so that I don't trip. I was just walking in the dark but I'm sure that the way to the garden is just straight ahead. Because while I was looking for Lory earlier, I saw the direction to the garden that's why I know where it is.
Dear diary,
My job in Chad's plan was extremely simple, I was just supposed to give Lory the necklace but I still failed it! Because I'm feeble! Haay! But if Chad didn't take Lory, who did he grab?
